APMS - Automated Patch Management System
Patch management is typically a very difficult and costly task to
perform. The reasons include:
- Large data centers have hundreds or thousands of systems requiring
updates
- Each system requires a custom set of updates
- Relatively short time period between update releases
- Various source media and/or locations for update components
- Lack of consistent approach to patch management
TriParadigm approaches these problems from a business continuity
perspective and has determined the best solution is to centralize
patch management into a locally managed system. Each system is
analyized to determine it's required updates and downloads these updates
from one or more sources to a centralized server. System administrators
are automatically notified when critical updates are available and
prepares those systems for scheduled maintenance.
Since high availability and disaster recovery clusters require that
updates be applied across all nodes of the cluster, these systems are
analyzed and scheduled as a group.
